More information

I have worked with people who are asylum seekers and refugees for around 10 years in Plymouth. I taught ESOL at City College Plymouth, volunteered as a case worker at Devon and Cornwall Refugee Support and set up a Kurdish women’s group through the Plymouth Kurdish Community organisation. I have more than 25 years experience of working with people from different parts of the world, learning about different cultures and customs.

I worked for International Voluntary Service in the 1980’s, volunteering in West Africa and organising orientation and debriefing sessions for UK volunteers. I have hosted people from West Africa and from elsewhere. I have a great love of music, dance and theatre from different cultures and ran weekly drama sessions with asylum seeker and refugee people at City College Plymouth.

I can offer drama workshops and/or ‘icebreaker’ games and activities which get people moving and getting to know each other. I also have experience of training and mentoring language teachers, as well as teaching English language.
